The Church God Wants

Image
Listen to this and give some thought to this concept. We have to take the church and truly create disciples. People have to do church not just go to church. As I am praying about my future, this challenges what is next for me. Great message, hope you enjoy, Coach Jackson.

Amen Jon

#r12=d28 teaching series

#r12=d28 is a teaching centering studying Romans 12 and Deuteronomy 28.  It is a basically a teaching on Covenant.  Using Romans 12 as an example of how we should live out our Covenant Relationship with God and then Deuteronomy 28 to understand the blessings, promises, and curses associated with living out or failing to live out our Covenant Relationship.  At its core it is a challenge for the American Christian to live out the life and advance the Kingdom of God and walk in His blessings. #r12=d28 Teaching One Introduction by Mark Jackson on Scribd

Coaches Thoughts -- Tuesday 12-6

Just as you don’t know the path of the wind, or how bones develop in the womb of a pregnant woman, so you don’t know the work of God who makes everything. Ecclesiastes 11:5 HCSB   We are reminded in Ecclesiastes that God is God and we are not. I don't know about you, but I depend a lot on myself, my abilities, my gifts and not enough on the Holy Spirit. My Pastor told me recently that I need to work on listening to the voice of the Holy Spirit and of course testing it to make that it is the Holy Spirit and not Mark's tangents. To make our lives easier, we need to figure out that we don't have everything figured out. We need to understand that we don't understand everything. We need to admit to God that we need him. That we need to admit to God that we are lost without His guidance.  All this of course is much easier said that done. Thy will be done is easy to say. Trusting God who knows and makes everything, makes sense, but is not easy to do. I am workin...

14 Pounds and Counting

Image
I have lost 14 pounds and when I get back to Buffalo, the month of June is going to be great and I am going to stay very active!  So if I continue to make good choices eating, workout, and just do my daily tasks, I should get plenty of exercise and the weight should come off much faster. So how have I lost 14 pounds.  I have lost 14 pounds and feel MUCH BETTER, because I have followed the advice of this Doctor in this video.  I teach Health and in my class we watched this video during my Diabetes lesson and I was extremely convicted.  I had received a diagnosis of pre-diabetic from my doctor and I have decided to reverse that.  I feel convicted because earlier in life I had done the Atkins diet with great success and then I went back to all my old eating habits, especially my Mountain Dew habit.  As a coach, I need energy.  I need to be in good enough shape to coach at a high level.  So I have been doing this now for about 3 weeks and I am reall...

Buffalo Orange Route

Image
One of the areas of emphasis for us this upcoming season is putting our QB's in better position to be successful.  Our QB play like every aspect of our offense has to get better.  Well, I am the QB coach and OC, so I guess that responsibility falls on me.  Step one in my mind is teaching the position better and helping them make easy reads and slow the game down.  The good news is that we have returning experience there and I think in the off season we have made strides in our teaching.  We will find out soon enough.  Our passing game is very similar to Noel Mazzone, the new OC at Texas A&M and formerly OC at Arizona State and UCLA recently.  His favorite route is an NFL staple called 3 Man Snag.  We color code all of our pass plays, so 3 Man Snag for us is Orange.  Below is the teaching clip from Mazzone's days at ASU that I will use to help teach our QB's.

Buffalo Football Website

Here is a link to our website for Buffalo Football.  Steve Cole my Director of Football Operations, or "DOFO" as he is affectionately called by the rest of the staff, has worked hard on this.   Currently the site highlights our talented and undefeated in Junior High incoming freshmen class including pictures of them with their parents on signing night.  Here is the link: http://buffalobisonfootball.wix.com/buffalobisonfootball Go Bison!

Winning At Buffalo

In order to win at Buffalo, we are going to have to be good at the fundamentals.  We have to be improved in every phase of the game, but in particular, to win you have to stop somebody.  In order to stop somebody you have to do three things, pursuit well, defeat blocks, and tackle.  That is that defense is all about.  We are going to have a continued emphasis on tackling this year. Last year we decided last year to teach the Seahawks form of tackling.  I really liked it.  I think it is the smartest, safest, and most common sense way of teaching tackling.  I cannot say that we say it transfer to the field, but much of that was the result of being out manned.  I do think that if we stick to it, we will see more results on the field this year. Here is the link to the updated 2015 teaching video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Pb_B0c19xA&feature=youtu.be Let's do a great job of teaching the game of football and Go Bison!

Proverbs Coach

I wrote this several years.  It is so amazing how relevant and powerful the Word of God is. What is a Proverbs Coach by Mark Jackson

You Are Not Alone

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12   Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB) 9  Two are better than one because they have a good reward for their efforts. 10  For if either falls, his companion can lift him up; but pity the one who falls without another to lift him up. 11  Also, if two lie down together, they can keep warm; but how can one person alone keep warm? 12  And if someone overpowers one person, two can resist him. A cord of three strands is not easily broken. This life, plain and simple is about relationships.  If at the end of the day your work, your pride, or anything else leaves you standing alone hurts you.  Accomplishment, success, money, or fame are things people seek after but if you achieve those things and along the way damage relationship after relationship you have failed miserably.  My Father was a simple man.  He worked hard all of his life, making very little money in the grocery stores of Hayti, Missouri.  T...

Build Your Kingdom Here

Image
My Pastor, Alan Beauchamp, at Praise Assembly has turned this into the prayer for our church at Praise Assembly in North Springfield in Missouri.  This is his favorite song because of the lyrics.  It is a prayer and could even be called an anthem.  I want you to read the lyrics and then you can listen to the song if you would like, I have added the you tube link as well.  But read the lyrics.  I think if you pay close attention to the lyrics you will agree with Pastor Beauchamp in that this needs to be our prayer as American Christians and that this can serve as an anthem for revival in the church today.  "Build Your Kingdom Here" Come, set Your rule and reign In our hearts again Increase in us we pray Unveil why we're made Come, set our hearts ablaze with hope Like wildfire in our very souls Holy Spirit come invade us now We are Your church We need Your power in us We seek Your kingdom first We hunger and we thirst Refuse to ...

The "IF" Church

The "IF" Church 2 Chronicles 7:14  Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB) 14 If My people who are called by My name humble themselves, pray and seek My face, and turn from their evil ways, then I will hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land. God is waiting for His people.  God loves all people, but He has chosen to work through His people.  The problem in America is us.  His church, we are the ones He is waiting on.  Waiting on to do what?  Well the verse says to humble ourselves.  American culture in general is full of pride wrapped in self reliance.  Humble ourselves.  God is sick and tired of His people looking at the current election and being dismayed.  None of the potential candidates have the answer, none of them will be good for America, and most definitely none of them will save us.  The reason why God is sick and tired is that He is the answer and He has already sent the savior....

New Years Day Devotional: Paul's Motto

Paul's Motto Scripture Reference:  A theme throughout all of Paul's Writings Of course it is New Years Day and everyone is making their New Years Resolutions for 2016.  The problem with resolutions is that they are self centered.  You are basically saying this is what "I" am going to do differently in 2016.  So I am going to offer you a motto from from an old reliable apostle that might help you make the most of 2016.  Paul's Motto: I have been crucified with Christ, it is not me, but He who lives within me.  Happy New Years May 2016 Bring You All That God Has For You! In Christ Love, Humbly His by Grace, Coach Jackson
