14 Pounds and Counting

Image
I have lost 14 pounds and when I get back to Buffalo, the month of June is going to be great and I am going to stay very active!  So if I continue to make good choices eating, workout, and just do my daily tasks, I should get plenty of exercise and the weight should come off much faster. So how have I lost 14 pounds.  I have lost 14 pounds and feel MUCH BETTER, because I have followed the advice of this Doctor in this video.  I teach Health and in my class we watched this video during my Diabetes lesson and I was extremely convicted.  I had received a diagnosis of pre-diabetic from my doctor and I have decided to reverse that.  I feel convicted because earlier in life I had done the Atkins diet with great success and then I went back to all my old eating habits, especially my Mountain Dew habit.  As a coach, I need energy.  I need to be in good enough shape to coach at a high level.  So I have been doing this now for about 3 weeks and I am really starting to see and feel the differen

Buffalo Orange Route

One of the areas of emphasis for us this upcoming season is putting our QB's in better position to be successful.  Our QB play like every aspect of our offense has to get better.  Well, I am the QB coach and OC, so I guess that responsibility falls on me.  Step one in my mind is teaching the position better and helping them make easy reads and slow the game down.  The good news is that we have returning experience there and I think in the off season we have made strides in our teaching.  We will find out soon enough.  Our passing game is very similar to Noel Mazzone, the new OC at Texas A&M and formerly OC at Arizona State and UCLA recently.  His favorite route is an NFL staple called 3 Man Snag.  We color code all of our pass plays, so 3 Man Snag for us is Orange.  Below is the teaching clip from Mazzone's days at ASU that I will use to help teach our QB's.

Buffalo Football Website

Here is a link to our website for Buffalo Football.  Steve Cole my Director of Football Operations, or "DOFO" as he is affectionately called by the rest of the staff, has worked hard on this.   Currently the site highlights our talented and undefeated in Junior High incoming freshmen class including pictures of them with their parents on signing night.  Here is the link: http://buffalobisonfootball.wix.com/buffalobisonfootball Go Bison!

Winning At Buffalo

In order to win at Buffalo, we are going to have to be good at the fundamentals.  We have to be improved in every phase of the game, but in particular, to win you have to stop somebody.  In order to stop somebody you have to do three things, pursuit well, defeat blocks, and tackle.  That is that defense is all about.  We are going to have a continued emphasis on tackling this year. Last year we decided last year to teach the Seahawks form of tackling.  I really liked it.  I think it is the smartest, safest, and most common sense way of teaching tackling.  I cannot say that we say it transfer to the field, but much of that was the result of being out manned.  I do think that if we stick to it, we will see more results on the field this year. Here is the link to the updated 2015 teaching video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Pb_B0c19xA&feature=youtu.be Let's do a great job of teaching the game of football and Go Bison!
